Darby's Writing Archive
SHORT STORIES,  CHILDREN'S MYSTERY,  ADULT MYSTERY, TRAVEL STORIES, COLUMNS AND MORE
This Website represents a lifetime of writing. Books and short
stories are not like other works of art. They do not have an
instant audience, can't be viewed by people strolling a gallery or
broadcast to a wide audience. The exception to this rule is the
author who is famous, infamous or lucky enough to capture the
attention of a publisher who will invest marketing dollars to
create best sellers. Unfortunately, as publishers pull back on
new titles and invest in their 'tried and true' authors, many
good writers remain unpublished.

Although I have been a professional journalist most of my life
and have been published extensively in print and electronically,
the pieces I write for fun, that light my passion, have no
publishing outlet. However, the reviewers, editors and friends
who have read my work give me very positive feedback.

I want my writing to be shared and enjoyed. That's why I've
created this archive of short stories, books, newspaper columns
and travel stories. I hope some of you find them, read a couple,
provide me with feedback and pass along anything you enjoy to
friends. Thanks to this great Digital Era, the written word can
move from the darkness of file folders where the art is never
shared to the open illumination of the Web - a virtual
library teeming with potential readers. Thank you for
visiting and for reading my work.

A Lifetime of Writing

    Own a Kindle?
I've just published my full length children's mystery book on Kindle It features four
youngsters with physical disabilities and abundant talent to solve the mystery of
cats gone missing. It's written with young readers about 8 to 11 years old as they
choose their peer groups and sometimes are tempted to taunt and tease. Although
there is a subliminal message the story is fun and fast paced - ideal for children of
any and all abilities. If you own a Kindle, download my story for the child in your life!
